Trends you can't miss in 2024
Just a few more days and the new year is already upon us. Like you, we are curious to see what is to come, but of course we can already make some predictions: what does 2024 have in store for the social media landscape?
Social search engine
We all know SEO from the well-known search engines, of course, but TikTok has also been working on their own SEO strategy for some time. Looking for the best tips for a holiday or what is that pop star doing now? No problem for the younger generation, as they use the popular entertainment app as a search engine to look things up. The beginning of the end for Google? We don’t think so (yet), but they certainly have good competition.
Quadrupling AI
If there is any trend we can no longer ignore, it is Artificial Intelligence, or AI. A survey by Hootsuite shows that organizations are going to double, triple or even quadruple their use of AI next year. But it doesn’t stop there: Meta, TikTok and also LinkedIn have been testing generative AI features for some time and we expect these will only grow.
Privacy is high on the agenda
And finally, another important trend in the social media landscape:
In February 2024, the Digital Services Act (DSA) will come into force for all online services and platforms in Europe, giving users more insight into the use of their data by major platforms. Meta already introduced an ad-free subscription and TikTok is working on a similar option. However, privacy rights organisation ‘nyob’ criticizes this development, claiming the fees unfairly force users to give up privacy rights. So the final word has not yet been spoken on this.
In any case, there is plenty going on in the social media landscape, which trend will you implement in your 2024 strategy?
