Tiktok’s Voice Filter Movement

23 January 2023 - Charlotte Woerdman

If you’re looking to step up your content creation game and create a more engaging experience for your audience, what better way to do that than with a real-time voice changer?

TikTok has been experimenting and introducing updates to the app for a while now, making it the most popular short-form video-sharing application. After introducing the blue verification check mark, the new update brings something more exciting to its users.

Recently the app introduced voice filters, allowing content creators to change the way their voice sounds in real-life and allowing users to immediately share the video with edited audio. Videos using these filters have already gone viral, amassing thousands of likes and shares, sparking a popular trend.

There is a range of different voice filters available on TikTok, with the most popular one being the ‘trickster’. It seems as though not everyone yet has access to the new ‘people’ voice filters.

According to TikTok, it’s likely that the newer voice effects that’ve been trending on TikTok, like Jessie, Deep, and now Trickster, are all still in the testing phase, which would explain why not everyone can use them.

However, it seems that there should be some ways to get them, such as: deleting the app and reinstalling it. While some people claim that these ‘tricks’ actually work, others say this is not the case.

Whether you want the Siri knock-off to narrate your life, or you just want to know how much you can mess with the filter, there’s so much you can do with this feature, no matter which effect you choose.
