The Social Scoop - Week 43

24 October 2025 - Juliette Bakker

Instagram is nudging us deeper and deeper into Reels.

The app is testing an new, optional menu that puts Reels and DMs front and center and it’s also prompting users to turn Stories into Reels to use a wider audience. Instagram is increasingly a place to watch content from people you don’t know – to then talk about it in DM’s with friends. The message is clear: discover in Reels, continue the conversation in DMs. So find your community in the big feed, then give them something they’ll want to pass along.

Facebook Reels: Smarter Recommendations and Bigger Rewards for Creators

Facebook may not have the hype of TikTok or Instagram, but it’s been stepping up to stay relevant in the video space. Ever see a video on the platform and wonder, “why am I seeing this?” That’s about to change! Facebook has upgraded its recommendation algorithm, so you’ll get videos that match your interests faster, see what your friends are enjoying, and discover more content you actually want to see.

Moreover, the platform is becoming more rewarding for creators. The platform now pays based on post performance rather than ad revenue, prioritizing original, high-quality content and giving creators a clearer path to earn from their posts.

Unlocking Reach with Pinterest SEO

If you’re posting on Pinterest without SEO, you’re leaving reach on the table. Pinterest acts like a visual search engine, and with a few simple keyword tweaks, your Pins can rank higher, show up more often, and stay discoverable for months.

Strong Pinterest SEO starts with understanding your audience and the phrases they use. Phrases like “how to…”, “ideas for…”, or “inspiration for…”. Those keywords should appear organically in your Pin title, description, and alt text, giving Pinterest multiple signals about the topic. Visuals matter too: clear, vertical 2:3 images perform best because Pinterest prioritizes them in the feed.

It doesn’t stop at the Pin level. Boards act like categories, so well-named and well-described boards help strengthen your overall content relevance. Over time, this ecosystem of optimized Pins and boards increases your authority, boosts discoverability, and keeps your content searchable for months, long after you hit publish.
