Make Instagram, Instagram again!

I’m sure you have noticed that there has been a lot of news surrounding Instagram over the past few weeks. In an attempt not to lose its popularity to TikTok, the fastest growing platform at the moment, Instagram came up with a lot of new updates.

The updates were rather upsetting. For example, illumitati posted a statement asking people to stop turning the platform into a copy of TikTok and go back to ‘cute’ photos of friends. The post was shared en masse and not by the least; Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. For Kylie Jenner, this is not the first time she has meddled in a social platform, as she did once before when she dedicated a Tweet to the Snapchat platform, causing its shares to drop by 6%.

Meanwhile, Adam Mosseri (Head of Instagram) has posted a video in which he seems to react to all the noises surrounding the changes on the platform. He is trying to clear up all the rumors that are going around and reassure people about all the changes that are going on. To get people to think about Instagram and what he actually wants to make clear is that the platform is moving with all the changes that are going on in the social media landscape. So far, the call has not had the desired effect. People do not really care whether Instagram continues to ‘grow’. However, there is already much speculation about the next platform to copy Instagram. My money is on BeReal, as this TikTokker
