Is Apple starting a new trend?
Apple TV+ uploaded the first episode of The Silo to Twitter last week! Will extended video content become the new social media trend for streaming services? Dorst & Lesser looked into it!
The first episode on Twitter
Just like other platforms, you can now post long videos on Twitter. For example, Apple TV+ also used this and posted the first episode of their series “The Silo” on Twitter. We at Dorst & Lesser are curious if other companies will follow this example and whether this is possibly a new trend. A Twitter user suggested that more companies should do this.
Not a new trend
Uploading the first episode on a platform like Twitter is not new. In the past, pilot episodes of other series have also been reported on Youtube. Apple TV+ posted the episode of “Silo” to Twitter to attract new viewers. Watching this first episode for free should get people excited and encouraged to eventually move to the Apple TV+ platform.
What does D&L think?
Gen Z likes to get as much information as possible in a short amount of time. Of course, you don’t get this with an episode of 60 minutes. Therefore, we are curious to see if other platforms like Netflix and Prime Video will also test this and whether this move will help to get more viewers on their series!
