is Adobe's AI Generator a friend or foe for creatives?
Adobe’s latest beta version is causing excitement on social media this week because of the striking role of AI. This new tool significantly simplifies image editing. Thanks to this tool, missing parts can be filled in automatically and objects can be added or removed effortlessly. The result will shake up the world of social media.
Reactions on social media about the latest beta version have been mixed. While some creators are amazed by the possibilities, critical voices can also be heard. Some feel abandoned by Adobe, as if their work is being taken over, while others do not yet see the tool as fully functional. At Dorst & Lesser, we immediately tested the tool and despite the obvious difference visible between the original image and the AI part, we are hugely excited. If this version already works so well, we can’t wait to see how future versions will be. While the quality of the current version is not yet suitable for print, it is fine to use on social media. How quickly will AI evolve and how much better will the newer versions get?
Another important question that arises is whether AI will take over the work of graphic designers. We are convinced that this will not be the case for now and that we should embrace the tool above all. Even though the AI generator can perform fast and accurate edits, the designer will still create unique concepts and make artistic decisions. At Dorst & Lesser, we have experimented extensively with the tool and we are very happy with the results. We look forward to hearing what you guys think!
