Instagram Stories now goes beyond just your own friends!
Get more out of your UGC strategy thanks to the ‘friendstories’ feature!
Instagram is once again (see our previous article on carousels) going creative with a brand new collaborative feature: creating stories especially for your friends. The option, called “Friendstories” adds a playful dimension to the story-making process.
You know how it works: you witness a beautiful sunset, you take a picture of it and post it on your own Instagram story to share with your friends. But now, instead of sharing it only with your own friends, you can choose the ‘friendstories’ option. You send your artwork directly to a selected account, who views it and may decide to add it to his or her own story. The result? A chain reaction of creativity and connections
Nice! But what does this mean for brands and creative agencies? It opens a door to easy UGC collection. Creators can send their videos directly to brands, making it easy for them to share it on their social channels. Imagine your creation as the star of the story on your favourite brand’s profile. A win-win scenario! Although Instagram confirms that they are currently only testing this option with selected users, marketers and businesses can already start thinking about how to leverage this update.
