Instagram introduces interruption-free stories
That Instagram is becoming increasingly focused on video content is no longer a surprise. To make this all happen smoothly as well, the platform recently announced another new update regarding videos. What does Instagram have in store this time?
That vacation story you still have to upload will no longer be divided into short 15-second videos from now on. Whereas videos on stories were still interrupted before, videos under 60 seconds will be posted in their entirety from now on.
This innovation improves the user experience, as the video continues in one piece and you are no longer distracted by interruptions. With the new update, stories are becoming more and more similar to Reels, which has been making its rise recently.
There are always two sides to the story. For example, some users actually liked the simplicity of short bite-sized stories. But every disadvantage has its advantage: the continuous stories put an end to the endless tapping through stories to finally get to the next one. So you get to the following story much faster if you don’t like the first few seconds. It is therefore still important to get your audience’s attention in the first second.
The update was tested on a few users last year, but as of now, it is available to all users worldwide. The update confirms once again that video content is among Instagram’s priorities and the platform is becoming more and more like TikTok.
