Edit tweet

13 September 2022 - Selma Maroufi

Do you know the feeling? After thinking about the perfect Tweet for a while, you finally press send. Oh no, you didn’t see the typo. Your heart rate goes up and your stress increases. Bummer, because on Twitter you’re not able to edit your current Tweets.

At least, not yet. Currently, Twitter is testing ‘Edit Tweet’ among Twitter Blue subscribers. Many are happy to hear this feature is finally on the horizon. In 2013 there were rumors about Twitter working on the edit feature. Twitter’s goal is to make the platform “more accessible and less stressful” through the Edit feature. Elon Musk has already polled the needs of users in April 2022, in which a convincing 73.6% indicated they would like to have this feature.

But be aware! The feature does not allow you to edit every Tweet undisturbed. The feature is now being tested in a way that you can only make an edit within 30 minutes of posting your Tweet. In addition, an edit icon and the time of adjustment will be visible. As soon as you click on the icon you will be able to retrieve the ‘Tweet history’.

Good for us, so we can still occasionally laugh a little about awkward typos such as Lucille Werner’s #lynch or #lunch?

It is not yet known when all users of Twitter will be able to use this feature. Twitter indicates that it first wants to test the function properly. So for now, double-check your tweets and stay tuned!
