Dive into NFTs after all?
The Metaverse is coming a bit closer this week. On August 4, it was already revealed that the NFT feature on Instagram was being rolled out across 100 countries. Now, less than a month later, is announced that they are testing the NFT feature on Facebook.
Whereas the popularity of Crypto and NFTs is currently lower than ever, Meta is coming up with a new feature to implement these technologies. A quick lesson for those who still don’t quite know what an NFT is: it’s a unique digital artwork or entire collection that you can only use and repost if you bought it. Twitter users could already set NFTs as their profile picture since January, and Zuckerberg announced in March that Meta would be pushing Non-Fungible Tokens. As of May this year, Instagram is testing the posting and sharing of NFTs on your account. This would include both the artist and owner and there will be no additional cost. The feature would look like this:
Meta announced this week to be testing for Facebook. The additional feature should make it easier to share your NFTs with friends and is part of the larger plan to set up the Metaverse. Unfortunately, we in the Netherlands have to be patient. The Facebook function is currently only available to selected users in the US and also the Instagram function is not yet available. For now there is no new date known when this will be available for us.
Do you think brands will immediately adapt this new feature?
