An Early Christmas present from Meta!
This Thursday marks a breakthrough for (almost) all EU users, as Threads becomes finally accessible to them.
Sneaky web designers
Exciting news! After its launch in the US and UK last July, Threads extended to the EU! Meta chose not to make an official announcement, but instead teased users with a countdown clock on their website. The wait is over – Threads is now officially live in the EU!
Check Your ‘Ticket’
Threads’ launch date varies depending on the user’s location. While for many, it’s set today (Thursday, December 14th, at noon), for some, it’s scheduled for July 6th at 1 PM. If you haven’t checked it yet, type ‘ticket’ or ‘threads’ in the Instagram search bar and your digital invitation will appear. It is not clear yet why there are different launch dates. Does Meta prioritize creators over brands? That question remains yet to be answered.
Claim your handle!
Since its launch in the US and UK, Threads has gained more than 140 million users. Notable brands like CNN, Tinder, and Wendy’s have garnered hundreds of thousands, even millions, of followers within a month. Each brand employs a different communication style; CNN leans heavily into using videos and images instead of just text, while Wendy’s and Tinder charm with humor, frequently engaging with other accounts. Compared to X, Threads focuses more on using videos, photos, (and sarcasm) rather than just text. With the EU onboard, we’re curious how the communication style of Threads will evolve. For now, ensure to check your ticket and secure your handle.
